Make Predictions

Ask Questions
While reading it is important to ask questions. Good readers ask questions before, during, and after a reading to clarify meaning, help make predictions, and focus on what is important in the story.
Mental Images
By making mental images the reader is becoming involved with the text. Making mental images helps the reader to connect more with the story which in turn makes reading more enjoyable.
Making Connections
During your reading it is important to make connections. When a reader makes a connection to the text they are connecting what they already know with what they are reading. By doing this, readers will be able to make more sense of the text as well as create meaning from the text. The three types of connections a reader can make are: text-to-self, text-to-text and text-to-world.
